Making a Difference for Kids in Monroe

Monroe Community Coalition has leveraged nearly $5 million in funding and resources for youth wellness since 2013. Our Coalition is a partnership between neighbors and professionals in the community who feel a responsibility for helping youth to grow up healthy and strong.

We want to prevent youth from experiencing the negative impacts of alcohol and other drug use because they adversely impact school performance, job prospects, and physical and mental health.

Community Prevention & Wellness

A Statewide Initiative Benefitting Monroe

Monroe is part of a statewide effort known as the Community Prevention and Wellness Initiative led by the Washington State Health Care Authority.

We Know What Works!

Effective substance abuse prevention requires a commitment to following the best available science. Sometimes that means stepping away from traditional approaches  found to be ineffective or that unintentionally cause harm to youth.

Monroe Community Coalition is regarded as a statewide leader in effective prevention practices. Our guide, Prevention Tools: What Works, What  Doesn’t,” is published by the Washington State Health Care Authority and distributed internationally.

I consider the trauma informed practice training provided by the Monroe Community Coalition to be the bedrock of my understanding of this complex human condition. The fact that the training is focused on evidence based practices and kernels of action to improve outcomes makes it useful and trustworthy.
